LIVE from MNSSHP 2019! 31 Tips for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

First-time guests to the party – as well as experienced partygoers – looking for party tips and tricks, follow along as my son and I enjoyed our 2019 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party night.

First time guests to the party - as well as experienced party goers - looking for party tips and tricks followed along as my son and I enjoyed our Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party night.

There are four main highlights to a MNSSHP party night:

  • Rides & Attractions ~ including party exclusives like Dance Parties
  • Character Meet and Greets ~ including rare characters usually only seen at parties or hard ticket events
  • Trick or Treat Lines
  • Parade + Stage Show + Fireworks Spectacular ~ these evening events are different on party nights versus regular park evenings.

Typically, you’ll need to choose 2 or 3 highlights to focus on. Having a plan for your party is super important to maximize your time and enjoyment.

You’ll find these tips in the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World Facebook Group – along with costume ideas, more party tips, and lots of party excitement. Join us!

1 – Arrive at the Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party EARLY

Plan your day so you will arrive at the Magic Kingdom and pass through the security checkpoints early. The party entrance gates open at 4pm – on our party night, they actually opened at 3:48pm – every minute counts on a party night!

2 – Pro Tip, Look and Move towards the LEFT Side

If you enter from the bus area, move left. There are fewer people arriving on the monorail and therefore the entrance lines are shorter. Keep moving left until you find the shortest line. Then be sure to have your Magic Bands on and available for a quick scan through the entrance gates.

3 – Pick up your MNSSHP Wristband just inside the entrance gate

Your MNSSHP party wristband is what identifies you as a party-goer, allowing to you attend the party, ride the rides, pick up your SoMK party card, buy exclusive party merchandise, and more!

Pick up your MNSSHP Wristband just inside the entrance gate. Or at various locations inside the park.

4 – Pick up the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Official Map

You won’t find the official party map at your resort. You’ll only find it inside the park on party nights. I always post the party map online and view it before my trip, but it’s nice to have a physical map for the party evening.

6 – Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Pathway

After entering the park, head right around the Main Street circle, the “beginning of the party” starts on Market Street, the back alley between La Chapeau and Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. You’ll find Magic Shots, photo boards, photo props, trick-or-treat bags, and your first trick-or-treat station,

11, 12, 13 – FastPass+ Strategy for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

One of the most frequent questions I get about attending the party is the availability of FastPass+ selections. In a nutshell, FastPass+ selections are only available when the park is OFFICIALLY open. The park officially closes at 6pm on party nights, so FastPass+ selections are NOT available after 6pm.

Since you can enter the park while it is officially OPEN (at 4pm), you ARE able to make FastPass+ selections for the two hours prior to the park closing time.

In order to get three FastPass+selections chosen prior to the park close time, the best strategy is to select FP+ times as follows:

  1. 3:15 pm – 4:15 pm
  2. 4:15 pm – 5:15 pm
  3. 5:15 pm – 6:00 pm

14 – It’s HOT in Orlando, Dress Accordingly for MNSSHP

Our party night was in mid-September…and it was hot! Keep this in mind when choosing your party costumes.

15 – Magic Kingdom Closes At 6pm on Party Nights

The Magic Kingdom closes at 6pm – all guests without party tickets – are asked to leave the park, so you’ll begin to see ride wait times start to decrease.

19 – Treat Lines At MNSSHP

Treat lines open at 7pm, when the party officially begins. Families with younger children tend to Trick or Treat early in the evening and the lines are a little longer. If you wait until later in the evening, you’ll find shorter, quick lines for candy treats.

20 – Wait Times During MNSSHP

The first parade begins around 9:15pm so, ride wait times are drastically reduced. If you can wait to watch the later parade (at 11:15pm) – use this time to ride more attractions.
